If you’ve got the big bucks, the Bentley Bentayga is an ideal luxury SUV for you if you want luxury, performance, and off-road capabilities
The Bentley Bentayga, ever since it came out in 2015, has been a stellar luxury SUV that harmonized the off-road capabilities of an SUV with the comfort and elegance of a limousine. While being the first of its kind when it came out, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, the Lamborghini Urus, and the Aston Martin DBX have since emerged as rivals. Yet with the new Bentayga, Bentley has found the ideal way to combine practicality, performance, and a driving experience suitable for the toughest of terrains in a luxurious package.
10/10 The Bentley Bentayga Is The First Luxury SUV
When the Bentayga first came out in 2015, it was the first of its kind. It is also Bentley’s first SUV and strives to uphold the Bentley philosophy of luxury, comfort, and elegance. It’s a luxurious and practical SUV that can be a daily driver as well as a highway cruiser, and offer superior performance capabilities that can rival a supercar. While its off-road capabilities may be a touch lesser than the likes of a Range Rover, the car certainly can take on any terrain that the driver throws at it. It features the iconic Bentley front grille with crystal-cut headlights like the Bentley Continental GT and the Flying Spur.
9/10 Bentley Offers The Bentayga In Various Trim Levels
The Bentley Bentayga comes in five different trim levels; the regular Bentayga, the Bentayga S, the luxury-focused Bentayga Azure, the sporty and performance-focused Bentayga Speed, and the eco-friendly limited run Bentayga Odyssean Edition that’s a plug-in hybrid vehicle. Whilst Bentley offers the Bentayga with four-, five- or seven-seater options, there are some trims that are offered as four or five-seater options, such as the Bentayga Odyssean Edition. With multiple trim levels, clients can choose which Bentley fits the best with their driving needs.
8/10 The Bentayga Speed Is A Performance-Focused SUV
The Bentley Bentayga Speed is the ultimate Bentayga that has performance capabilities better than some lighter, much more agile sports cars can offer. Inside, a 6.0-liter W-12 petrol engine that can produce 626 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque powers the Speed trim. The Bentayga Speed has a top speed of 190 mph with a lightning-quick 0-60 mph time of 3.8 seconds. Bentley also offers a titanium exhaust upgrade for the Bentayga Speed. It features a body-colored carbon-fiber body kit, 22-inch wheels, and 440 mm ceramic disc brakes that are the largest brakes to be fitted in a Bentley, ever. The Speed also features variable displacement technology that turns off six of the W-12 engine’s 12 cylinders when power isn’t required to ensure better efficiency and range.
7/10 The Bentayga Is Offered With An Extended Wheelbase Option
Bentley released The Bentayga Extended Wheelbase in 2022 as a replacement for its luxury sedan the Mulsanne. The Extended Wheelbase has a 180-millimeters longer wheelbase than the standard Bentayga. It also has rear-wheel steering and is powered by the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine producing 542 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque with a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph. Bentley offers the car in the standard and luxury-focused Azure trims.
6/10 The Bentayga Features Multiple Drive Modes
The Bentayga comes with three different driving specs: City, Touring, and All-Terrain. The all-terrain drive spec has additional drive settings for mud, snow, sand, and gravel. It also comes with a sump camera that’s helpful for off-roading. The touring spec comes with lane assist, adaptive cruise control and a night vision camera whilst the city spec comes with parking assist, pedestrian warning, and a top view camera. Additionally, there are four driving modes; the Comfort mode, the Sport mode, the Bentley mode which is perfect for everyday driving, and the Custom mode which lets drivers choose settings from the other mode to best suit their driving needs.
5/10 Bentley Offers Multiple Engine Options On The Bentayga
The Bentley Bentayga can have three different engine options; the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 that generates 542 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque with a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds. There’s also a V-6 3.0-liter hybrid option that generates 456 horsepower — of which 335 horsepower comes from the V-6 and 134 horsepower comes from the e-motor — and 516 pound-feet of torque (332 pound-feet for the V-6 and 295 pound-feet for the e-motor). It has a 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds with a top speed of 158 mph. The 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W-12 engine is reserved only for the Bentayga speed.
4/10 The Bentayga’s Hybrid Powertrain Combines Technology With Efficiency And Performance
The hybrid 3.0-liter V-6 engine is available as an engine option only in the Bentayga, Bentayga S, and the Bentayga Azure. The hybrid engine features an 18 kWh battery and has a fully electric range of 28 miles. However, the Bentayga Odyssean Edition — a limited run of only 70 copies worldwide — is only available as a V-6 hybrid. It has touring spec as standard and has three additional driving modes; the Hybrid mode, EV mode, and the Hold mode which runs the car on gas and recharges the batteries via re-gen braking. The car starts off in EV mode and switches to hybrid mode if the battery runs low or if the driver speeds up. The EV mode can reach speeds of up to 84 mph. The Odyssean edition’s navigation system can choose the appropriate power mode for different points of the journey on its own.
3/10 The Bentayga Offers Excellent Performance And Driving Experience
All Bentley Bentayga variants come with an all-wheel drivetrain as standard. The V-8 and the W-12 variants also feature Bentley’s Dynamic Ride — an electronic anti-roll system — as standard. The anti-roll bars feature 48-volt electric motors that help keep the cabin stable when cornering at high speeds and provide a smooth drive. The suspension also adapts to the driving conditions and can adjust itself. Its quick acceleration, high top speed, powerful engine, off-road capabilities, and luxurious comfort make the Bentley Bentayga a unique driving experience matched by a handful of other cars.
2/10 Bentley Offers Loads Of Customization Options To Choose From
Bentley offers its clients the opportunity to commission a Bentayga tailored to their needs. Across its various trim variants, the car comes with a choice of 60 colors for the clients to choose from. Additionally, each variant of the Bentayga comes with its own uniquely styled interiors to fit the trim. The four-seater luxurious option comes with a center console that runs the length of the rear cabin. Bentley can also design the interiors with various wood veneers and custom Mulliner designs. You can configure your own Bentayga on Bentley’s official website.
