Despite its reputation as one of the world’s most luxurious and meticulously crafted SUVs, the Bentley Bentayga has encountered a recall in the United States due to a specific safety issue. While the recall affects a relatively small number of vehicles, it still poses an inconvenience for the fortunate owners of these prestigious vehicles.
Bentley has recently announced a recall for certain Bentayga models from the 2022 and 2023 model years, specifically those manufactured between February 20, 2022, and November 7, 2022. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has identified a potential problem with the installation of second-row seats, which may not have been correctly locked onto the seat rails.
The concern arises from the possibility that an incorrectly locked seat rail could result in unexpected movement during a crash, potentially compromising the safety of the occupants. Bentley advises that owners may observe slight seat movement if one of the seat rails is not properly secured.
Recall Scope and Response:
The recall encompasses a total of 1,008 Bentley Bentayga vehicles. Fortunately, Bentley has not received any reports of accidents, injuries, or claims related to this issue. On June 19, 2023, Bentley will notify dealerships of the recall, followed by direct communication with the affected owners from June 26 onwards. Owners will be requested to take their Bentayga to an authorized dealership for a thorough inspection and adjustment of the second-row rail positions. No component replacements will be necessary for rectifying the concern.
Previous Recall Incident:
This is not the first time Bentley has faced a recall for the Bentayga. In October 2022, approximately 3,000 Bentayga units sold in the United States were recalled due to a software bug affecting the infotainment system. The bug caused a white screen to be displayed when the vehicle was put into reverse gear.
While Bentley strives to deliver exceptional quality and craftsmanship in their vehicles, the recent recall affecting Bentley Bentayga models highlights their commitment to addressing any safety concerns promptly. Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to respond to the recall notification and visit their authorized dealership for the necessary inspection and adjustment. Bentley remains dedicated to ensuring the ongoing safety and satisfaction of their valued customers.
