Bentley has taken the wraps off a sophisticated Mulliner edition of its extended wheelbase Bentayga SUV. Positioned as the pinnacle of the Bentayga lineup, this variant showcases an array of aesthetic refinements, opulent interior enhancements, and the exclusive availability of a V8 engine.
The Mulliner designation holds a storied history within Bentley, representing both its bespoke manufacturing division and the highest-tier model within each of the automaker’s three series. Distinctive Mulliner design cues unite these models, notably highlighted by the double diamond grille motif, which also adorns the front wing emblems. Bentley also introduces a Blackline specification, which replaces traditional brightwork with a sleek gloss black finish. The Mulliner-exclusive 22-inch wheel design comes in three finishes, ranging from bright chrome to glossy black.
However, the most remarkable transformations are within the cabin. Bentley now offers an exclusive tri-tone choice for its curated interior leather and trim combinations. These predefined combinations can be further personalized through various stitching options, all of which incorporate Mulliner’s signature stitching pattern. Elevating the sense of opulence, the cabin includes plush deep-pile wool floor mats and metallic ‘B’ inlays within the veneer trim. Furthermore, the previously optional four-seat ‘Airline’ rear seating package, featuring two individual captain’s chairs and a comprehensive center console, now comes as a standard feature.
Powering the Bentayga EWB Mulliner is Bentley’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, producing an impressive 542 bhp and 770 Nm of torque. This power is seamlessly distributed to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Despite the SUV’s substantial dimensions and weight, it achieves a 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) sprint in a mere 4.8 seconds.
Bentley’s innovative rear wheel steering and Dynamic Ride Control systems contribute to the Bentayga’s agility and road presence. The rear wheels counter-steer to the front wheels at low speeds, enhancing maneuverability, while they steer in the same direction at higher speeds to bolster stability.
Dynamic Ride Control harnesses a 48V electrical system to control adjustable struts in the suspension, effectively minimizing body roll. This technology combines with an active air-suspension setup and switchable dampers to offer unparalleled ride quality.
While UK pricing for the new Mulliner variant is yet to be unveiled, it is expected to surpass the existing EWB’s £211,300 price tag. Details regarding production and UK deliveries are yet to be confirmed.
